on snowshoes  Sucess!

my most recent time here. Peak 10,479 (high point just north of Twin Lake Pass) is not quite the high point. Continue following the ridge to the true high point overlooking Davenport Hill and Silver Fork.

Nice peak  Sucess!

I've been up here 18 times and in every month of the year. In the summer months it is usually the last peak of a very long day so when I do it by itself I am always surprised at how easy it is.

Climbed via Twin Lakes Pass from Alta. Worked to build up some perseverance as I was feeling crappy that day and made myself do something anyways.

From Grizzly Gulch  Sucess!

Followed a skin track through the fog until we hit the ridge, noticed we were on a highpoint, looked on the map to find we weren't on the summit, so followed the ridge north-ish to the top, skied the northwest face into Silver Fork in deep light powder, partner got a migraine so we canceled subsequent laps. I'm always amazed at how pretty this area is before it gets tracked, as long as conditions keep you from seeing or hearing the resort machinery too well.

Silver Lake

Have been up there a few times, but most recently, I ran up there after work for a quick hike. Was all alone, although I saw some deer.

7/23/09- Morning hike before work with Matt Van Horn. Incredible sunrise up there today.

For as many times I've been up there skiing, I've never thought to sign the summit log. Almost always fresh pow.

Grizzly Gulch  Sucess!

Very nice snowshoeing, some great kickers are built below the main tract, we heartlessly poached all the great powder that had accumulated around one of the bigger ones, great day.

All kinds of approaches  Sucess!

Aside from the wind it was a great climb. From the pass it took about 15 minutes to the east summit and another 15 minutes to the west summit. My GPS put both elevations equal. There was a geodetic survey marker at the east summit. Brent and I completed a fine morning by climbing Mt. Wolverine and Mt. Millicent before returning to the Twin Lakes dam and exiting down around Silver Lake's north side. Aspens were just beginning to turn color. This was my first time at the west summit. #2 on 10-23-07 Although early in the season, today was a snowshoe day, not only over both of the H.C. summits but also over Wolverine and Tuscarora. Start from the Silver Lake TH and descend via Catherine Pass past Lakes Catherine, Martha and Mary to the Brighton Resort parking lot. Nice loop. In Sept. 07 (#3)and again today (8-7-08)(#4) I hit both summits as part of an Alta ridge run. #5 10-19-10 Again part of Alta Ridge Run w/ Dave . Start Alta City Hall, hit Cardiff Pass, all around including Devils Castle and down past Cecret Lake. #6 2-13-12 From Alta Grizzly parking lot. Wanted Grizzly Gulch but low viz and deep new snow made for an interesting and steep approach to the ridge NORTH of the Cliffs. Got my bearings and made it to both peaks anyway. :). #7 8-23-14 from Silver Lake, then on to Patsy Marley & Wolverine. #8 06-23-21 W/ Lana. Part of ridge run from Flagstaff Mountain to the Snowbird tram.

Route Climbed: Solitude Ridge Date Climbed: winter 04  Sucess!

Great chute skiing. In an average snow year, there are 15 or so skiable lines back into the resort. Most of which are 600 vert. of chute skiing and another 600-800ft of bowl skiing. Epic!

Route Climbed: Traverse from Flagstaff Mountain, Grizzly Gulch Date Climbed: August 28, 2005  Sucess!

The traverse from Flagstaff has some good ridge hiking. The final climb up Honeycomb Cliffs was a bit tiring but overall it was a nice climb.
