Horse Meadow Road (Schifrin's SP-2 route) heading up to Big Sam. There are cliffs at the base of the far snowfield, and a slide could be deadly. (The 2 backpackers on the snowfield did not appear to have axes or crampons, which was beyond my tolerance for risk). Beyond the snowfield lies the cirque at the base of Big Sam and the long switchbacks can be seen leading from the cirque to the summit.
