Language Exchange  Sucess!

I hiked it by the end of April in 2010. I started alone but ended with many Chinese friends, each of us practicing the other one's language. That's where I got my first Chinese name and I gave English names to some girls. Rain on the way down. Easy to run. It was fun!

Lotus Peak  Sucess!

This mountain is a Chinese watercolour painting come alive. To get away from the tourist crowds, head on towards the Western Canyon and Walking Fairy Bridge. There you have the pristine pillars and clouds all to yourself.

Awesome  Sucess!

This is a gorgeous gorgeous mountain covered with, in Chinese fashion, concrete walkways. So, it's a different experience from remote and pristine mountains elsewhere, but certainly worthwhile.

Mountain traffic jams  Sucess!

We went up from the Eastern Steps and down from the Western ones. Hordes of Chinese families, from old people to tiny children, plus some girls in high-heel shoes, pushing it upwards on an April weekend. All the people, except us and a few more, went down the Western bit using the cableway, missing all the AMAZING!!! views.

Hiking, not much climbing  Sucess!

This was my first hike in China. The hike on this mountain is done with ease and pleasure. There is not much of a any climbing involved. It's mostly stairs and paths. The tourists jam are huge, but it offers an ideal occasion to socialize with Chinese and practice your Mandarin. This mountains is very popular in China. It is very beautiful.
