Date Climbed: Aug 26, 2016

My wife Penelope and I approached Granite Peak via the Huckleberry Creek last August 2016. One tough approach. We braved the bushvack and several (large) boulder fields on our way to Avalanche Lake. The infamous "George Creek" approach to the High Sierra's Mt Williamson comes to mind. To top it all of, we got hit by a strong late August snow storm at the Lake and had to give up our attempt. We hoped to do the West Ridge to East Ridge traverse and brought all our rock climbing gear. The area looks fantastic, there are other things to climb beside Granite as well. It is just a tough going, even for people much younger than we are. But, we will be back...
