Huckleberry Mountain  Sucess!

We'll call this mountain a "one'n'dun".

Huckleberry  Sucess!

Stopped at Fort Spokane on my way to Huckleberry. Interesting place for a history buff. Parked at the end of a spur at the 5600 saddle south of the summit. Walked along the ridge top to the north end tagging anything that looked possible.

Huckleberry  Sucess!

Tagged the LO on Stensgar and then did a traverse of basically the entire ridgeline since there are several bumps of somewhat similar elevation. Grassy but with a rocky spine.

1st of the day  Sucess!

First we did Huckleberry, then Old Dominion and we were fortunate enough to get a 3rd in Monumental. Huckleberry was the most interesting of the three since it required that we check lots of bumps and rough spots on the ridgeline in order to "touch" the true high spot. Also, we enjoyed a visit at the communication tower with a ham radio operator who opened the facility to Bob Bolton and I and explained the operation to us. I am a fellow ham radio operator so it was nice to see all the equipment. Just outside the door was a benchmark noted as "Daisy".

A Nice Peak  Sucess!

Due to the large truck I was using, I decided to park at the road crest rather than the northern ridgeline. The forest ascent was nice and enjoyable. Very peaceful. I was shocked to see the rocky spine on the summit ridge, which I followed north to the true summit, and then to the false summit. Good views to the east.
