| Woodie Hopper | Northeast ridge ![]() Date Climbed: Jul 19, 2010 | |
| I ran into my first wild Colorado bear on the Rainbow Trail while hiking alone. I passed the trail to go up the east ridge, so I climbed straight up the "fall line" until I got above tree line, and fortunately the ridge I was on led to the east summit ridge. On the way down, I bush-whacked somewhere along the east ridge and came out just above the South Colony Lake road closure. Bluebird day, didn't see any hikers, just a lot of elk. | ||

| We traversed from Kat Carsen, over obstuction. Super high winds becuase of a sandstorm over the Sangres. We'd take 20 steps, then brace for the winds over and over.... | ||

| shknbke | East ridge-winter ascent ![]() Date Climbed: Mar 6, 2010 | |
| Enjoyed a nice late winter day via the east ridge. Snow was somewhat consolidated on the south slopes, but brutally steep between about 10400' and 11000'. The snow on the ridge was very firm. Nice catwalk along the ridge with glorious winter views. | ||

| jeffrawn | Ouch! ![]() Date Climbed: Oct 5, 2009 | |
| Standard route from South Colony Lakes. Temps in the 20's and wind gusts out of the SW up to 50-60mph. This was not much fun, although it was curiously fascinating to have the wind actually push me up as I climbed the final ridge. You can bet I stayed well-away from the north edge! Spent a long time getting the Jeep to the end of the road - one week before its closure. I think I might rather have hiked! | ||

| Hiked Humboldt with 3 friends today. Started at the 4x4 TH at 8 am summited at 11:30 am, got back at 2 PM. Wanted to get a hike out of the TH before they closed it for good. The drive up the gnarly road was harder than the hike. | ||

| Did this one from the 4WD trailhead. Uneventful except for the brutally cold wind and bone shaking 4WD road. | ||

| Well, the tediousness of the 4x4 route nearly put me to sleep (5 miles an hour in 4 low...) but I enjoyed this hike. I was not feeling well for whatever reason and totally sucking wind starting with the climb to the saddle clear to the summit. But the weather held and we enjoyed the summit to ourselves and had pleasant weather for the outhike. Partners: Deb & Kevin. | ||

| Climbed 13,799 first from the 4X4 TH. 30-40 mph winds with lots of snow in the trees. A tree across the road on the way out resulted in a crushed middle finger but still a great trip. | ||
