dcsolorunnerWindy day  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jun 5, 2009

Got to the summit in 2hrs 15min, met alot of people who had turned back due to wind, which was around 85-95mph at the summit, enough to knock someone down. Pretty wild weather, partly cloudy, wind was definatley the most memorable thing tough. Great hike, great 360 views.

I started at Lockett Meadow and climbed straight up the south slope of Rees Peak. I then headed to Aubineau Peak and summit it via the east slope. After that I summitted Humphreys via it's east slope. All three of these ascents were steep, and difficult. After Humpreys Peak I headed down the trail on the west side to near the saddle between Humphreys and Agassiz and descend striaght down the scree and snow covered slope into the valley.

Good hike! Snow on about 1/2 the trail below tree line, several downed trees. Being a Florida girl this was definitely the highest elevation I've hiked by far! No idea how people do this in 5 hours roundtrip, took us 3.5 hours to come down at a quick pace and only 1 short stop.

Icy hard snow covered some N facing slopes but the S slopes were surprisingly snow free. I made up a little bit of a potpourri route but it worked out just fine. Not my first time on this mtn and perhaps not the last.

A surprisingly snowless climb on a relatively balmy day. 3 hours 40 minutes up and 27 degrees on top with great views. Early winter '05 had the lightest snowfalls on record.

HotovenFirst time I got AMS  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Aug 6, 1999

This was a fun hike. A storm was rolling up quickly, so we hiked down at a very fast pace. This resulted in me getting AMS. Which was just a splitting headache. But bad enough to keeps me down for the rest of the day.

Nice day out, snow most of the way. Clear skies and some wind at the top. Met two others that were coming down, no one else on the mountain.

Fireman79No more false summits!  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jun 20, 2007

Snow bowl route was nice. It was a long hike and t- shirt weather on top. False summits got a bit old but enjoyed it. Arizona gave us an A+ sunset that evening.

96avs01Perfect Winter Ascent  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jan 17, 2009

Ascended Humphreys with Mike, Mark and Rick. Three of us had splitboards and one slowshoer. Weather on top was amazing, low 40s with very minimal wind. Had the summit all to ourselves with great views of the GC North Rim. Splitboard descent was very challenging in highly variable conditions. A phenomenal trip to the top of AZ!

We left camp at the Grand Canyon before sunrise and got on the trail just after 8, hoping to avoid afternoon storms. We encountered a little rain and lots of wind and clouds, even a bit of sleet on the summit. There was no view due to the clouds. We heard some thunder on the way down the ridge, but it never got close. It was a fun hike and we met lots of nice people along the way and enjoyed great beer at a brewpub in Flagstaff afterward. I really dig Flagstaff/Sedona... mellow half-day hike... spent an hour on the summit... interesting views... red rock navajo nation, north rim of the grand canyon, endless yellow pine country... the volcanic area feels like oregon... brought cody on a leash the whole way

Climbed after driving down from Salt Lake, which made for a long day. Heard some ominous thunder early in the climb, but things cleared up pretty nicely by the time we reached timberline.
