Hungry Lamb

This bighorn lamb had apparently already been weaned, and was enjoying the grasses of the mixed-grass prairie in Badlands NP. This area is the westernmost extent of the mixed-grass prairie, and to the west the lower rainfall can support only a shortgrass prairie. Of course, in the features of the Badlands, as here, one takes what one can get. Photo taken July 2008.
