Date Climbed: Jul 19, 2011

Stu Brandel

Arrived about 6:45 Am and had hill to myself. Saw a black bear on way up and down. Too much snow to go beyond to Griff or Unicorn, as I had hoped.

Did this once on snowshoes and another time in the summer. 2009

Date Climbed: Nov 26, 2010

Was rewarded for being the first out of the parking lot with three miles of knee deep trail breaking. Overall was a fun day and did not end up continuing to Unicorn and Griff due to massive amounts of windloading (~15 in. during the day). Experienced "whumping", shooting cracks and snow settlement.

ArkitektGrandparents Favorite Hike  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jul 18, 1998

This was my grandparents favorite hike. I was only 16 when I "climbed" this one and I recall them telling me to slow down and enjoy the scenery. I guess that I never did learn 'slowly' appreciate scenery.

TLPgood impression  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jun 12, 2010

After enduring some really crappy weather on a trip to the northwest, finally high pressure came in, and cleared the skies completely. I was glad I was in Olympic National Park. I really enjoyed the fantastic views. There was still some snow covering up the "trail", but that made it more enjoyable. A nice little spot, even if everyone goes there.

gimpilatorHurrican Hill, Griff Peak, and Unicorn Peak  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Apr 10, 2010

A long snowshoe with Robbin and Dave. Unicorn Peak was the most interesting but Hurricane Hill was the highest. I came upon a bear by surprise on the saddle between Giff Peak and Hurricane Hill.

This is a nice place in winter. Camped once on the summit, another time just a quick visit. Both in winter. http://www.willhiteweb.com/olympic_mountains/hurricane_hill/port_angeles_191.htm

BaarbPretty, oh so pretty!  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jun 25, 2006

First time in the area, really quite something with snow even in late June. Definitely a range to head back to for a longer stay. Loved the marmots and deer close up, with some bear sightings farther off.

Date Climbed: Aug 24, 2009

Our friend joined my wife and I for an easy scenic hike, saw mountain beavers, several deer, squirrels and birds. Awesome views of the Olympic Mts and Port Angeles, on a nice day, you can see Victoria and Mt Baker.

MountainjeffLow Snow Coverage  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Feb 15, 2009

Telemark skied to the summit and the descended partway down the NW ridge, dropping into the bowl just south of the summit. Hardly any snow on the South side. Overall a great day, but it would be nice if we got a bit more snow.

Beautiful views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca, Vancouver Island, Canadian Coast mountains, San Juan Islands and the Olympic National Park. Easy to get there, easy hiking.

Beautiful area with awe-inspiring views. Deer aren't skittish at all either.
