Dresdnerhuette

Dresdnerhuette is located in the Stubai Alps in the province Tyrol in Austria. Owner is the german alpine club "DAV". Dresdnerhuette was built at the end of the Stubai valley at a height of 2308m. It is surrounded by the ski resort "Stubaier Gletscher". Next to the hut is a station of the cable car "Fernau" which comes up from Mutterbergalm the trailhead of the Stubai valley. Dresdnerhuette is opened the the whole year round due to the tourism in the Stubai Alps. The hut is origin for ascents to some high mountains like Zuckerhuetl, Schaufelspitze, Stubaier Wildspitze or Hinterer Daunkopf.

Getting there:
  • From Innsbruck on highway A13 (toll: 2,50 Euro!) towards "Brenner" and Italy. Leave the highway at the exit "Schoenberg - Stubaital". Pay the toll! Drive on road #183 into the Stubai valley and through the villages Mieders, Fulpmes, Neustift, Kroessbach and Ranalt to Mutterbergalm. Mutterbergalm is the end of the Stubai valley. There are 2.500 parkings at the cable-car station of the ski resort "Stubaier Gletscher". If you drive from Italy, you have to cross the "Brenner" and leave the highway at the exit "Schoenberg - Stubaital" (Toll: ~6-8 Euro). If you don´t want to pay the toll, you could drive from Brenner or Innsbruck on the old Brenner road #182.

Access to the hut:
  • If the cable-car is opened you can use both cable-cars to reach "Fernau" the station where the Dresdnerhuette is.

  • Tack #135 beneath the cable car (Up: 500m)

Another possible hike

I was over there a couple of weeks ago and Dresdner Hutte is also a good starting point for some eastwards hiking to nearby Sulzenauer Hutte and Nürnberger Hütte. Beautiful landscapes are to be found on the way, including the Grünausee, the north face of Wilder Freiger and the crevasses of the Sulzenaukerner (gletscher).
