The CampgroundCedar Glen is a nice, isolated trailcamp just north of Icehouse Canyon, reached by way of the Chapman Trail. Chapman Trail meets Icehouse Canyon Trail 1 mile from the parking lot, and the tail end of Chapman connects to Icehouse Trail .6 miles from Icehouse Saddle in the East. Take Chapman 1.6 miles north, and you will reach Cedar Glen.
Ze sign, boss! Ze sign! |
If spending some time in the backcountry, with your eyes set on Thunder Mountain or Telegraph Peak, or just a simple getaway, this campground may be what you're looking for. It sees significantly less traffic than the popular Icehouse Canyon, and it lacks facilities, keeping the wilderness "feel" alive.
All the space in the world... |
"Backpack" stoves are allowed to be used on this site with a permit. However, this camp is out of the Cucamonga Wilderness boundary, so you do not require a permit for the wilderness... though something tells me maybe 5% of folks who venture into this area bother to get one.External LinksDan's Hiking Pages Icehouse/Cedar Glen (see "Alternate Routes") Images
