Brief HistoryThe chalet is situated at the place where the first shelters and chalets were built, thanks to the initiative of the Hungarian - Carpathian union. The first one, Majlath's chalet was named after the vice-president of the union and a member of Liptov county council, Vojtech Majlath. It burnt down in 1880 and was replaced later by a new stone chalet consisting of three rooms, between 1881 and 1890. After the fire destroyed this one in 1892, Frantisek Mariassy built a new chalet, but the new owner of the valley, Prince Hohenlohe, allowed the chalet to be demolished in 1897, to restrict the tourist rush. In 1899, due to public pressure, he built a new chalet with a larger capacity, which was open tu the public until 1961, after many reconstructions. Between the years 1958 and 1961, a new mountain hotel with a restaurant and a bar was built in this location.
