Overview

As all huts in the range, Kamniska koca na Kamniskem sedlu (Kamnik saddle hut) is open and run in the summer, mainly between mid June and the third week of September. The opening and especially the closing date may vary, depending on general weather conditions.
In June and as of mid september it is good to ask about the situation at the trailhead or by phone. Since the hut is maintained and run by the Slovene Alpine Association (PZS), check the external link for phone numbers.
In any case we may definitely depend on the hut being open in the last week of June, in July, August and in the first week of September.
Reserving is trendy, but I haven't heard of anyone unwillingly having to sleep outdoors.
Being member of an Alpine Association gives % on overnighting costs.
As in all mountain huts (except for the trailhead huts) there is a winter room.

There are 50 beds in dormitories and 92 beds in rooms.
The Kamnik hut is on Kamnisko sedlo (the Kamnik saddle), between Brana (W) and Planjava,
N of the Kamniska Bistrica trailhead, S of the Logarska dolina trailhead.

Closest summits, along marked and secured mountain-hiking paths (routes): Brana, Planjava

Close walls: Planjava, Brana.

Getting there

Marked and secured mountain-hiking paths (routes) from the Kamniska Bistrica trailhead (2 to 3 hours) and the Logarska dolina trailhead (2 to 3 hours, demanding).
Check the range main page Central Group section and Getting There section.

Closest huts:
Frischaufov dom
Korosica

Red Tape

Unless expressly signalized (barrier, signpost), and upon your own responsibility, macadamized roads are allowed and visible on maps (these roads are mainly maintained for lumbering and hut cable station access purposes).
Fishing & hunting is regulated.
Wild camping and open fires are not allowed.

The Kamnik-Savinja Alps are part of the Natura 2000 program.
The Logar valley (Logarska dolina) is a Landscape Parc and there is probably a fee for the road along the upper part of the valley, in the summer months during the daytime.
