Good Hike!  Sucess!

Great day to hike. We left the parking lot at 5:20 am and made it to the summit and back to the parking lot 6.5 hours later.

Ski Descent on NW Face  Sucess!

Awesome ski run and a pretty easy skin up. It is steep, so make sure avalanche conditions are compliant. 11 miles and 3,500' round trip.

Nice   Sucess!

Nice and easy with an obvious trail to the top (its the miles that might get you on this one). Also did Pt. 10,200 just North of the saddle right before the final summit push.

Good hike  Sucess!

Penelope and I hiked up the canyon, visited almost all the posted waterfalls along the way and hiked the peak, all in worsening fall weather. Our timing was perfect, a strong storm hit the canyon that evening just after we returned to our camper. Good hike even if the area is extremely busy and campgrounds noisy beyond belief. The hundreds of obvious water streaks and falls on the walls of Hyalite Canyon must look incredible when frozen.

Perfect Fall Hike

My son and I hiked in to Hyalite Lake, which surprisingly is nearly at 9,000 feet, but decided it was too late to finish the summit, still another 2 miles off. The hike was very scenic, because of all of the streams to cross and plenty of waterfalls. Who knew that this area was so rich with h20 next to dry Bozeman? We spotted a cotton-tail deer munching out on some salad on the way down. This hike was easy for me and I am 59 years old. I saw several other hikers who were in their 60's and 70's along the route too. The most athletic people do the route as a run.

The little falls on the way up are amoung the highlights to this trail. The 360' view from the top is really impressive.

Hyalite  Sucess!

Beautiful area with a lot of foot traffic and their dogs. Recommend somewhere else during the weekend and save this one for a weekday.

Hyalite double bagger  Sucess!

Even when attempting a slightly later than usual alpine ascent time of 7am @ the TH, STILL ran into several people on the trail (biggest pet-peave about Hyalite). Topped out on the peak at 10am, dropped down the nearest saddle on the bowl, and hit up whichever peak is next to Hyalite Peak (more technical - a lot of bouldering / scrambling in loose / terrible rock and knife edge ridges. Was going to attempt Fridley, but a thunderstorm brewing overhead made for a quick but fun hike back towards the peak and a ~1500ft glissade into the bowl. Calmed down a bit once back at the tree line. Brought crampons and ice axe just in case, crampons weren't used and ice axe only for glissade. Whole hike is total reward (if you can get up early enough to dodge the ridiculous amount of trail traffic) - scenic waterfalls around ever bend. My roundtrip with other peak included was probably pushing over 17mi

Hyalite

Saw an unbelievable group of bighorns in the rut as they locked horns. Hope to be back this summer for the backbone race.

Worth the Effort  Sucess!

Hiked Hyalite Peak two summers in a row - not only is it worth the effort, but it is a hike worth repeating. I would like to continue on the Continental Divide trail the next time I do this hike.
