cjrandallTough climb, AMAZING view!  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jul 29, 2017

Camped two nights in Hyndman Basin at "Sundance" Lake, which seemed a little cheeky as it has no name on the topo. But, it gave my daughter and I the chance to really take our time getting up and down, despite the fact that the mosquitos devoured us.

I was wholly unprepared for the majestic beauty to be had from this summit. Never hiked in the Pioneers before this, but I'll definitely be back. Would love to hike Cobb Peak, what a amazing hulking mass of a mountain!

Could easily pick out dozens of lakes and other peaks from the airy summit.

We didn't make the summit. We stopped about 300 or so feet short of the summit, as thunder/hail storms were rolling in. Still, I was super impressed with the Pioneers and the beauty/solitude they provided.

My 4th 12ker and my daughter's 1st. We hiked the 6 miles to the small lake just below the base for an early morning start. Weather was a little iffy early but cleared up later that morning.

Was my 3rd attempt. Motto: Just REDO it!

Perfect snow free October summit with bright yellow aspens and blue skies. Round trip was about 12.5 miles, and it took us 6 hour up, and 4 down. Great hike, I'd do it again!

Date Climbed: Oct 5, 2014

The most perfect of days. Fall crisp but no snow! My daughter didn't want me to go alone so she decided to go along. It was the most fun I've had with her. She got to the summit (along with our dog Dexter) and said when do we do the other 8? Love this hike.

biked as much as we could of the long approach. The final push up the ridge is a fun ascent. Hauling back to the car on an easy downhill was fun too!

We camped at the trailhead and got an early start for this one. This was an unbelievably beautiful hike the entire way. The views from the summit were awesome. With this I have 3 of the 9 Idaho 12er's.

Finally made it! Not a hard mountain, just couldn't get it done the first two times we tried. Great day with light winds and clear skies.

Date Climbed: Nov 10, 2006

I think Brendon made a trip report for this trip. I remember it was cold! I got Frost Nip on my big toe. I lost about a postage stamp size chunk of skin and the toe nail. The nice folks down at the ski yurt gave us some warm soup, and I was able to rally and get back to the car. Since then I've bought a reliable freezer thermometer and some Scarpa Phantom Guide 6,000 boots and I've never had cold feet since. I'm looking at East Face options. I think there could be a line up the North Face too.

Sawtooth Scott

Rick, Wan and I had the mountain to ourselves, likely because the fires in the area were making many think twice about dealing with the smoke that blanked the region. We climbed smoke-free and enjoyed the experience. The wildflowers in the upper basin near where we camped were spectacular.

Date Climbed: Sep 21, 2012

We were in town for a few days and Friday was to be our easy day. We wanted to go into the basin and check out Cobb, scope it out and maybe give it a try but we kept going and once up high in the basin we went for the sadle and well... Was nice because the fall weather was stable (9:30 a.m start) and the sun was still out later (6:30 p.m. finish). Did not see one person the whole day until we were back near the TH. Had a great day except for the rock that fliped into may ankle causing a good cut and bruise.

Technically easy, really a vigorous hike with a steep scramble over medium to large boulders at end. However, you will need to be fit to do this in one day. Mountain biking the first 2.5-3 miles is the only way in my opinion: much quicker, easier and more fun. The wildflowers, views and a nice cascade in the creek to the right of the trail .5 to 1.0 mile above the small pond at 8700 feet are great. I would repeat this hike/summit.

Day climbed from Boise. Biked the first 3 miles. Wildflowers like I've not seen in years, and with rare, unreal color combinations.. Meadows of pure aromatic lupine too. Rain threatened all day and we got sprinkled on several times, but no thunder til late. Descended the E gully. The downhill bike ride out was so much fun after a long day on foot.
