The icy summit pyramid of Chopicalqui, in the Cordillera Blanca of Peru, emerging from storm clouds after our descent from the peak. No views from the top, but spectacular scenery as the storm cleared out. By Howie Silleck, July 9, 2007. Comments[ Post a Comment ] | flow | WOOOW!!! | |

Voted 10/10 | Can't believe this is real! Where the hell do you start climbing it?! | | Posted Jul 30, 2007 1:47 pm |

Hasn't voted | Hi Deb - it's real! The route traverses a steep (80 degree) slope to the right beneath the face to gain a 55 degree snow/ice slope to the summit. Lots of fun, except for the miserable weather!

Hasn't voted | Thanks! We did climb the normal SW ridge route - it finishes by traversing below the steep wall of this pyramid to gain the final ridge on the right. It was an adventure in the storm - I'll have a trip report up momentarily.
Thanks,
