Thank You. Kenya...I see you have climbed Mt. Kenya, congrats. Great area and country, needs a little more humanitarian effort in my opinion. Have you read the book regarding the WWII prisoners escaping just to climb Mt. Kenya? I forget the title off hand. Read it quite a while back. Cool logo you created. Cheers.

We attempted the climb, but didn't summit due to weather. The trip was great regardless. I would love to go back just for the traveling experience.

Is the book you mentioned entitled "No Picnic on Mount Kenya"? Yes, it's a great story.

Oh, and the logo came from a friend of mine. She's much more creative than I am. :)

There is no such thing. Summitpost is nothing more than a beta site. Folks who climb and/or hike a lot will enjoy sharing their beta with others so they can enjoy the same route or trail. It also makes for a good format for an on-line scrap book (memories of your treks or climbs), if you take the time to make nice contributions, members will take a look at it and generally give you positive feedback. The forum is more for those who wish they could climb or hike outdoors more...a place to be important without actually having to be....don't take anything there to serious and welcome to Summitpost. Cheers.

""You cannot stay on the summit forever; you have to come down again. So why bother in the first place? Just this: What is above knows what is below, but what is below does not know what is above. One climbs, one sees. One descends, one sees no longer, but one has seen. There is an art of conducting oneself in the lower regions by the memory of what one saw higher up. When one can no longer see, one can at least still know.""   --Rene Daumal
