No, the only filter I use for mountain photos is a polarizing filter.

I've been to this area twice now and never got a view like this :-(

The 2nd time (April 2002) we went to the village in the forests beneath it, just out of picture to the bottom right and though we could see an approach couloir to the right-hand (north) ridge, we saw nothing more of the mountain.

When I've been to the area in spring and early summer I have seen nothing of the peak either. Winter time, the skies are clear and there wasn't a cloud on the sky for days. I was there in late December.

Thanks TA.
It was this yellow for only a minute or two.
I was sitting on a rock drinking "yak-butter-tea" and looked up for a second, saw the light and just had the time to change lens and take the shot.

Thanks!

In the day, the light in this area is usually very sharp, but morning and evening time it changes dramatically. Usually you have good opportunities for nice photos then.

I trekked at the base of Mianzimu in august 2005 and never got a chance of seeing the summit. Thanks for sharing this great picture.
