If you modify your route some, you can pass by Pecos Falls on your way. Although this is a beautiful waterfall, it is a bit overrated. Take Trail 249 from Iron Gate and make a left on trail 239 to get to the falls. You will have to bushwack down and do some rock hopping to get a shot like this of the falls from below. After crossing the falls, take Trail 24 up to the Skyline Trail ( #251) and take a left to get to Chimayosos. This will add several miles to the already long round trip distance. June 9, 2005.
