This photo shows me on the exit move off of the knife-edge ridge on Kelso Ridge of Torreys Peak. It shows a little of the exposure over Dead Dog Couloir, which is on the climber's left. Photo taken 8-3-05.

It looks like there is a bit of a dirt trail to the left... did you take it and then climb to the knife edge at the end? Or are you on the top of the ridge sooner? Congrats!

There might be a faint trail to the climber's right (photographer's left). We topped out on the ridge just behind the knife-edge (where the ridge falls away in the photo) via a Class 4 tower. You can bypass the tower and knife by going around either way. They both looked really loose and crappy, so we went with the more solid rock in the photo. It's more fun anyway.

I like your shoes. Montrail CTC, they are pretty much my favorite shoe right now.

This was the first time I tried scrambling with them - so far, so good. They broke in really well too.

Nice shot! Good alternative to the crowds on Grays and Torreys.

What a great picture. Nice and steep....just the way I like it. Way to capture the moment well. Looks like it was a great climb. Happy Holidays

"You cannot stay on the summit forever; you have to come down again. So why bother in the first place ? Just this: What is above knows what is below, but what is below does not know what is above. One climbs, one sees. One descends, one sees no longer, but one has seen. There is an art of conducting oneself in the lower regions by the memory of what one saw higher up. When one can no longer see, one can at least still know."   --Rene Dumal
