Mount Gould's NE face, taken... [ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Mount Gould's NE face, taken...
Mount Gould's NE face, taken from the saddle leading to the final ridge up neighboring Mount Grinnell (behind the photographer, and to the north). The large ice sheet at the bottom is Grinnell Glacier, with the smaller and higher one being known, simply, as The Salamander. In the early part of the Twentieth Century they were one massive ice sheet, but have since split into the two we have today. What you are looking at is not the famous and oft-photographed Mt Gould East Face, but the lake is 3150' below the summit—this face is impressive enough as is! Photo by Vernon, July 20, 2005.
