Our first view of Mount Gould... [ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Our first view of Mount Gould...
Our first view of Mount Gould, from the unnamed pass above the Highline Trail. Grinnell is out of the frame to the left, and almost directly behind. The glacier at the foot of Gould is the Grinnell Glacier, with the higher and closer, partially hidden glacier, being called, simply, The Salamander. At the time George Bird Grinnell explored this area they were one massive ice sheet. (For a better perspective on these two glaciers, click here.)

csmcgranahanGreat shot!

Voted 10/10

In September my wife and I visited GNP. She is not up for anything over easy class 2. As We did hike up to Grinnell Glacier from the Many Glacier Campground area so I can really appreciate this photo. Hope to summit Grinnel some day!
