Photo for trip report...
Photo for trip report purposes. Summit of Kings Peak. My brother Mark, 11 years old is on the left. I am to the right and this is a few weeks after I turned 13 years old (July 1987). This photo was taken only minutes before we were shocked by lightning. See the Trip Report.

Notice the clothes we used to wear in the mountains as kids on multi day trips. Old levis, old t-shirts, old tennis shoes, and an old light canvas jacket!

(Tokewanna Peak is to the right on the photo).

Scott WesemannThis picture is AWESOME!

Voted 10/10

It totally reminds me of hiking in my youth..with the gear (or lack thereof) and the storm clouds are great! I am sure these days if you saw that storm brewing you would not be heading up.

Thanks for the comment. I've been out of the country so didn't read the message until now.

Back then we wouldn't have went up either since we were with my dad. We came up the east face and didn't see the storm until we were at the very summit since it came from the west and the other side of the mountain.
