Voted 10/10 | Posting on behalf of Dr. John Roper:
A history for the naming of this peak.
To use one of John's favorite words, "Pinnacle Peak" is prosaic. And "Chopping Block" is somewhat a misnomer. | | Posted Dec 31, 2005 4:11 pm |

Hasn't voted | LOL Klenke, what a great story! I love how the pancakes helped them decide to turn around LMAO.
I kinda like the name "Stump" better myself.
This had me smiling too:
"For those folks who answered "Chopping Block," you've got to wonder if they ever chopped wood on a chopping block. Don't you want a flat, level top for that? Take a look at those rocky roots growing into the ground, and reconsider." LOL too funny
Thanks for posting the history ... I love it!

| Alpendave | What a beautiful photo... | |
Voted 10/10 | I can hear the alpine silence of the morning, broken only by the rumble of the waterfalls plunging down from Terror Basin. This photo would be good for the Mt. Blum page as well, as it only has 8 photos, none from this viewpoint.
