Wow, cool picture. Rainier on the horizon? Awesome.

Thanks :) That's Mt. Adams on just visible in the distance. This is taken from the north side of the range (Mt. Rainier at my back).

If it weren't for the road, I'd say this picture is award winning material. Yet even the road is not that dominant. You might submit this to Weatherwise magazine for their yearly photo contest.

you had to go and mention the road! :) Considering the gray covering Seattle last weekend, it was a nice change to get a couple of days ot beautiful skies around the mountain.

I was up there at The Castle on the same day as you but we were back at the Narada Falls parking lot by 4:00PM, so we missed the vibrant skies. In fact, we descended into the basin facing you from the saddle just to the left of Mt. Adams.

However, on February 10 (Monday), we were up north of Mt. Baker coming back on the Hannegan Pass Trail and got pretty much the same kind of sunset. The hills around us--especially Mt. Sefrit--were glowing pink and the sky was fire red both to the west and back southeast (toward Ruth Mountain). In fact, we were wishing we were still up on a mountain somewhere so we could take in the view much like your picture.

Which Tatoosh mountains are shown? It looks like Steven's at the far left, then Unicorn in the middle.
