Canaleta [ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Canaleta
The infamous Canaleta leading to the summit of Aconcagua. When not covered in snow, the Canaleta consists of loose dirt and scree. With every step up, you slide back 1/3 of the way. The summit is the high point on the ridge left of center. Photo taken December 15, 2005.

"To lovers of the wild, these mountains are not a hundred miles away. Their spiritual power and the goodness of the sky make them near, as a circle of friends."   --John Muir
