Ipasha Peak, Lithoid Cusp, Mount Merritt [ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Ipasha Peak, Lithoid Cusp, Mount Merritt
Head on view, from the east, of (L) Ipasha Peak (9450'), and (R) Mount Merritt (10004'), taken from the Ptarmigan Tunnel to Ahern Pass Goat Trail. The highest jagged point between the two mountains is known as the Lithoid Cusp, and it, and the other spires on this ridge, have never been climbed. The snow field on Merritt is Old Sun Glacier; it is still active, with huge chunks occasionally calving off. As a matter of perspective, Merritt's summit is 10004', the snow field at the cliff base is 5525'. Photo by Vernon, July 20, 2005.
