supermarmoti'm curious,

Voted 10/10

what's the elevation of the terminus of this glacier? gotta love a climate that can support a glacier that size below 6000 feet!

cheers,
david

.....but ~1300m (~4000 ft). This slope is north facing and only 15km from the Pacific Ocean. It - and mountains with similar aspects on the island - receive huge winter snow accumulations. That's not to say that our glaciers aren't receding of course but they're probably doing better than most.

Cheers,

Martin

The glacier looks much more impressive in your pic than the same time this year. The crevasses still have snow!

For sure. I noticed this from Phillips Ridge on the way to the Hinde last month - way more snow on the Taylor Glacier.

My Hinde write up and TR show some good, albeit distant, examples.

All the best,

Martin
