Took this while hiking back to Angeles Crest Highway from Throop Peak after a storm. Waterman Peak is in the distance.

Voted 8/10 | that's what Galen Rowell (you should check out his photography; he really rocks) called this sort of light. I've only been able to capture it once. Kudos to you! | | Posted May 26, 2006 6:45 pm |

Hasn't voted | I am a fan of Galen's work and his outdoor ethos. Interestingly, my former intro to photography instructor was with him in Alaska before he died in a plane crash. | | Posted Jun 10, 2006 3:36 pm |

Hasn't voted | I have been a life-long hiker in the San Gabriels. That thunderstorm reminds me of one I encountered on Baldy. I watched that monster come over San Gorgonio heading my way. I scampered down with the hair standing up on my neck. I got to the Notch when all hell broke loose--hail, snow, rain, lightning, the works. Very scary. | | Posted May 30, 2008 8:38 pm |

Hasn't voted | Glad you made it out safely man. I injured tendons in my knee descending too quickly from Throop - have to wear braces when I hike now and am forced to descend slowly on any trek. Storms def make memorable experiences.
