A: gap in cliff band
This is the view of the first "crux", looking south, from a point just SW of Devil's Thumb. The gap is rather featureless; the fellow climbing through the gap is 6'2" tall.

This is the where we encountered the waterfall and couldn't get a solid grip on the rock.

Still a mystery.

This part of the route was bone-dry 3 days before your trip, and 8 days after your trip.

There could have been a waterfall in between, as there had been a patch of snow above that first section.

Anya tells me that the second pitch had a trickle of water running over part of the section 3 days before your trip.
