Return From Grinnell Glacier [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Return From Grinnell Glacier

My son, Curtis, makes the return hike along the Grinnell Glacier Trail, Glacier National Park, MT. We were about two weeks ahead of the ferry boats opening along two of the lakes, so we had to hike an extra couple miles each direction. That's Mount Gould (left) and Angel's Wing in the background.

Note the camera slung over Curtis' shoulder. He's literally following in Dad's footsteps! Of course, that's the last time I remember him following. For the next couple years we kept good pace with each other as we hiked the Everglades, Zion Canyon, Death Valley, Joshua Tree and (with me barely keeping up) Great Smoky Mountains and Shenandoah. But, in the summer of 2005 I huffed and puffed 95-miles as it seemed he was always stopping to wait for me to catch up with him while hiking through the Sangre de Cristo Mountains of Philmont Scout Ranch, NM. This image was taken in June 2001. They do grow up so fast!
