Druid Arch in the Needles [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Druid Arch in the Needles
Fantastic and massive Druid Arch towers over the head of Elephant Canyon in the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park. This arch is nearly 500 feet high and its size is not readily apparent. The juniper trees at the base of the formation are a pretty good clue, though. This incredible spot is reached by hiking up Elephant Canyon 5.5 miles from the Elephant Hill trailhead. Some scrambling and friction work on slickrock is required, along with plenty of time, but it's worth it! Spring, 2006.
