THE YAM WALL

Near the top of this fun Class 4 obstacle is Randy Breunlin, descending the slanted upper section in the crouched position suggested in the Yam Wall route. Aaron Johnson spots him, standing on a corner where the route turns back left. Sharon Breunlin negotiates the next section as I.U. Trekkers leader Jim Lierman spots her. A waterfall is just behind Jim, which could be running full throttle in early summer, making a descent from this obstacle a cold and slippery proposition. Jennifer York and Karen Neumann look on. Late summer, IU Trekkers climb of Hallet Peak, 2002.
