Delicate Arch was caught by our cameras on a glorious Utah evening in 2002 after a series of storms passed through the Moab area. The tourists were not dressed for this festive spring occasion and left when it got cold and windy and started to spit some rain. We on the other hand were prepared and had planned for the event, and remained in warm clothes, braving the winds, only to get this amazing picture. Ellen's camera took this one. A similar version from mine hangs in our house. We had the place to ourselves, too. This was one of those amazing moments in your life you never forget.
Delicate Arch is probably the most photographed feature in Arches National Park, and probably ranks among the most photographed icons on the planet. While such pictures are amazing to see, they also exist by the thousands. I submitted one to SP on request a while back and was afraid that SP would then be showered with Delicate Arch pictures. With SPv2, that possibility is even greater, and I hope that is not the case.
But, having been enrolled in a joint effort with SP member RPC on the Arches Page, a striking primary photo was indicated. However, if we suddenly start getting buried in Delicate Arch pictures, I'll remove this photo. We need DIFFERENT pictures from Arches, particularly remote areas and CLIMBING pictures. Thanks in advance for any pertinent contributions you may post on the Arches National Park area page.

Voted 10/10 | where did all the light come from? Is that all sunlight from the set, or was there also lightning from within? | | Posted Jun 9, 2006 2:51 am |

Hasn't voted | All light was supplied by the sun, the cloud was considerably south and the sun was almost down. | | Posted Jun 9, 2006 3:20 am |
