| North Face of Medio Truchas | [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ] |
The red line is the route we took up the north face of Medio Truchas, June 11, 2006. This was my first climb. Chuck and Darien climbed starting up the gully to the left of our line. Thomas lead me. According to him, it was 4 pitches of easy class 5 climbing followed by some exposed scrambling to the summit. He said the hardest spots were about 5.6. The altitude at the bottom is just under 12,000'. The altitude on the summit is about 13,100'. The route Chuck and Darien took was 5.8.

Hasn't voted | Hey, I attempted to lead this route Sept. 20, 2008. We climbed the first pitch, then bailed off. I found the climbing easy, but either my route selection or setting protection skills weren't quite as good. I was curious about the location of your belays. I was wondering if you could take this picture and repost it with dots for the approx. location of the belays. I belayed the first pitch from the first grassy area above the first wall, it turned out to be no good, hard to protect. I think I know where I screwed up, I think there was a ledge just before the climb up on to the first grassy area to belay from, but I was just curious. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have declared jihad on the route, it may have won the battle, but hopefully not the war. I have survived to try again ;) | | Posted Oct 4, 2008 2:24 pm |

The short answer is that I have to talk to Thomas. I'm a really half-assed climber. Thomas is a real climber. He led the route. I don't remember where the belays were. What I can tell you is that I know he would have wanted so stay close to the ridge as long as he thought I would be able to follow. Anyway, I will talk to him and see if he remembers where the belays were.
