| South Sister Glissade | [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ] |
This was our route back from the Green Lakes variation of the South Sister. Shortly after leaving the main trail at the lake just below 9000 ft, we made our way to the snow fields... The glissader here, Trevin Ziegler, was hesitant to give it a try, but warmed up quickly after he watched me for a bit (my tracks on the left) and saw how fun it is! I estimate we glissaded for just short of 2 miles and 2000 ft. elevation drop. Easily the longest and most enjoyable glissade I've done so far.

Hasn't voted | Oh man, you gotta try glissading! It is a little scary at first, but once you get it figured out you'll love it. It's the fastest and funnest way to descend (scree skiing is a close 2nd). By the way, the South Ridge route is a little easier and less snowy. | | Posted Aug 18, 2006 3:56 am |
