took this picture on 6-3-03. spring slab that ran a week or so ago on the ne slope just next to the rock of ages col (approach to wilson peak). typical of the frightening "run to the ground" slides we've been seeing this spring. the deep instabilities in the snow and very warm weather are still making things dangerous...

Nick-Thanks for posting this shot. Like most of Colorado, the San Juans received most of their snow late in the season. There is no stability in this year's snowpack. June climbing would usually be rather safe, but this year is the exception. Thanks a lot for posting this picture.
