Tormet-Forbidden traverse - approaching first notch [ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Tormet-Forbidden traverse - approaching first notch
The Torment-Forbidden traverse begins with a descent of the upper southeast face of Torment. Working your way down and east from the summit, you're aiming for a notch the provides access to the north side of the ridge. The grassy ledges at lower left lead to the correct notch. It is not the deep notch separating the foreground from the first large, shadowed gendarme. Forbidden peak on the left, the flat-topped Boston Peak center right, the point of Sahale right of Boston. Between Forbidden and Boston the north face of Mt. Buckner looms from behind the ridge. In case you're wondering, the views only get better as you progress along the route. August 25, 2006.
