Brooks Lake Cliffs [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Brooks Lake Cliffs
Absaroka Range, Wyoming; Dawn-- July 1998

The clifftops are actually about 1900' above the lake, but the cliffs themselves rise from a bench not visible here and have a true rise of around 1000'.

Mount Sublette is the peak on the left end of the cliffs. It is on the Continental Divide.

Thank you! And that's a drive-up view at a Forest Service campground, so imagine what the wilderness area is like. I almost drove into a massive ditch while I was gawking at the view.

Wow!!! I still think this is one of the most beautiful shots on this site. That reflection makes all the difference for me:)

saintgrizzlyNo sense of scale...

It's impossible to get a sense of scale in photos like this--what's the vertical rise of those cliffs? (Nice photo, by the way!)

Thanks, Vernon. The clifftops are actually about 1900' higher than the lake, but the cliffs themselves rise from a bench not visible here and have a true rise of around 1000'. The views at this campground are just incredible.
