Popes Crack [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Popes Crack
Popes Crack, the hardest 5.9 I've tried. Key word "tried". Took my first whipper on this one! Picture is of the next party that came along right as I fell above my last piece. They were cool enough to clean my remaining gear, I was a little shaken and the climb was above my partners head. I was about 3 feet above a #3 nut, at the bulge, I fell, popped the nut (smacking me in the helmet were it should of been forehead!) and luckily a #1 camalot saved my ass. Wish I had different gear for this climb. Bring small cams and TCU's and leave the nuts! I've talked to a few people about this climb, and it seemed most people agreed it's kind of a sandbag 5.9. Welcome to JTree!
