Behind the waterfall [ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Behind the waterfall
~ Velebit / SE Velebit / Zrmanja canyon ~

Zrmanja river waterfalls are falling over ever growing travertine carbonate rocks powered by sedimentation of calcium carbonate. Because of that they are full of holes and overhanging which enables you to swim through the water curtain behind the falling water and enjoy the show from different perspective or even explore sometimes big tunnel systems.

I didn't believe it was real at first. The way you captured the bubbling of the water is incredible. Tripod? Low speed?

Thanks very much klwagar! No tripod, nowhere to put it as I'm swimming in deep water. It is combo of slower shutter and flash

hehehe, well these waterfalls are my favorite place for water fun! This particular chamber is very hard to find because it is unnoticeable behind the waterfall. And to get into it one must not have fear from the water strength. I live on the sea shore, have some fantastic beaches and crystal clear sea but nothing beats Zrmanja river for me! You can jump from waterfalls, dive in crystal clear water, swim, enjoy jacuzzi style bubbles, climb over some sections of waterfall through the falling water and even drink this water. I always say I would rather go there once in a month then swim in the sea every day! Beach is just boring when comparing to this :-) I can't wait for the next summer because water is too cold during rest of the year.

Cheers!

Thank you Kamil! :-) Well, one life is barely enough to discover all the amazing corners of Dinarics, even for us that live here :-)

Well Aleksandar, my first impression of the photo was: "Oh my God, this must be a joke, this is a 3D digital product!" -considering I am a (digital) 3D modeler. But no. It's hard to believe but no. Great job!
