Croda Rossa/Hohe Gaisl (3146m) (southern side) seen from Cristallo group.
Croda Rossa is very prominent peak and dominates its surroundings. It is one of the most important peaks in northern part of Dolomites but hasn't been reached by ferrata and is reserved only for climbers.

Voted 10/10 | Beautiful picture! (Notice that it is "Rossa" (red) rather than "Rosa" (pink).) | | Posted Nov 20, 2006 2:40 pm |

Hasn't voted | Thanks Brenta! Maps gives 3 manes; Hohe Gaisl / Croda Rosa / Croda Rossa so I guess Croda Rosa is also fine but I'll change to Rossa, no problem. Cheers! | | Posted Nov 20, 2006 2:51 pm |

Voted 10/10 | Oh, Brenta, can't you see? When he was enhancing saturation of colours, he clearly added red, not pink ;)))
No, seriously Sasa, this picture is great again in composition, how you captured the feeling and the contrast between clouds and red rocks. But this time you exaggerated with saturation. I would only lower the saturation of red and it would again look natural.

Voted 10/10 | Bravo Sasha, your shots are simply unsurpassable! This marvellous giant looks like a wild, wounded beast. Hohe Gaisl is so unusual mountain in the Dolomites, so lonely and aloof. It is a daunting, however, very rewarding task to climb it. Cheers Andrej | | Posted Nov 21, 2006 12:32 pm |

Hasn't voted | Thanks Andrej very much! You described it perfectly; like a wounded beast! Those strong red areas really look like it is bleeding, and there are even some black holes in that area too, that remind of wounds! Yes, fascinating mountain, but looks like a hard climb. Voted 10/10 | It is a hard and strenuous climb, up to IV- grade on the normal route. Even the rock is far from Dolomite best standards. But it is really an unforgettable experience. Try yourself on Croda Rossa next year, Sasha!

Hasn't voted | Guess that is why you didn't include it in the book. I don't know; for now I wouldn't dare to try it without someone more experienced. Maybe one day but at the moment I'm just happy to look at it :-) Cheers! | | Posted Nov 21, 2006 2:45 pm |
