Several small monkey-flower species are extremely rare. This is one of the rarest, with only about 10 known occurrences on earth; all in the rugged canyon country of west-central Idaho. This photo is from Mackenzie Creek, a tributary to the Salmon River north of Riggins, Idaho. July 2003
