to the Northern half of Mink Hollow in summer 2006 as this was missed 2003 :(

It really is not far from the Roaring Brook Parking Area off of Platte Clove Road. Other parts of this trail, like the amazing evergreen forest, I could not capture too well with the camera.

What happened here is that there was a big fallen tree upon which a seedling landed and began to grow. Eventually the seedling grew and forced roots down the side of the fallen nurse tree, into the ground. Over time, the nurse tree rotted out and "disappeared".
