Black Diamond's Fusion ice axe is quite possibly the greatest ice tool ever invented. It excells highly on mixed terrain and does great on steep ice. Although many claim its performance on less steep ice (WI3 and less) is bad, I have never had a probelm with them, although the swing requires more of a wrist-flick at these angles to stick the tool. Bottom line, leashless is the new way to climb ice, and the Fusions are the best out there, period. (I am not a rep for BD, I just really love these!)

Hasn't voted | When compared to other tools, such as the BD Vipers, they definately take more effort on WI2-3+ since there is more of a wrist swing. I really have not had a probelm though. Granted I used them on rock more than ice, they do their job just as well as the others and have more versatility. I really love these tools and highly recomend them. Even drytooling in gyms and on M4-6 is perfect for these bad boys...

Hasn't voted | Yes. I have to say, I a like them a lot too. Other than them being even more expensive than the BDs, tney don't have much more to offer. I like the curvature on the BD more and if you do not have the extra weights on the picks for the nomics, they do not stick very well because the pick seems to be a little flimsy. With the weights on they are pretty good. Once again, with the Nomics, they do b etter on WI4 M4 and up, otherwise it takes a littl extra wrist effort on the lower grades, but still works well. I'll stick with the BDs, in my opinion they are still the best.
