Wheeler Peak from (upper...
Wheeler Peak from (upper left, clockwise) Bull-of-the-Woods trailhead to the summit to Bavarian Restaurant. Route particulars: 10+/- miles, 5-8 hrs. Wheeler is the only true 4,000-meter peak in New Mexico. The only other in the state topping 4,000 is Mt. Walter (4,003 meters), which is part of the Wheeler summit ridge. Despite highway signs to the contrary, the actual summit of Wheeler Peak is so well screened by surrounding ridges and peaks that it is all but impossible to be seen from the Moreno Valley (Eagle Nest side) or the high desert/Rio Grande plateau (Taos side). Lake Fork Peak to the west and Old Mike Peak to the east are commonly misidentified by valley viewers as Wheeler. To my knowledge, only at the point were northbound Rt. 68 finally emerges from the Rio Grande Gorge, some 11 miles SWof Taos, can Wheeler be seen between Taos Mountain and Lake Fork.

... but a bit more generous resolution would be helpful. Can't really read your annotations.
