Avalanche on Ultar Glacier. This glacier flows down the south face of the Ultar Peaks which are located above Karimabad a short distance from the Karakoram highway.

in september 2006 i had the same experience. It was such a horrible scene coming down the avalance, just like the mountain is falling down, we had no place to hide for saftey except the hut, so we sit inside saying ALLAH, and the last pressure took away the roof sheets, however our lives were safe. there was almost 6inch snow covered at the bc after the storm was ended. Me. 2 japense and the hut owner, when we reached in afternoon, back to Karim abad, many people congratulated us, as the storm was heard and scence from karimabad as well. I have only 2 shots of the scene in my camera, from the beginning part not the end, because in the end we were inside the hut. Memorials of Japense climber Hasegawa san at the basecamp also stand as a witness of the strength of avalance falling from the straight angle of Ultar.
