Hasn't voted | Thank you. I was simply in the right place at the right time. We came down the mountain late in the day and were rewarded to this play of light and clouds in late afternoon.
I have been to the Valley of Fire many times, but never in late afternoon. I took my dog there too. He had fun scrambling on the sandstone but didn't like the stairs on Atlatl rock that much ;) | | Posted Oct 13, 2007 9:27 pm |

Voted 10/10 | AND, looks like Hadrian had a GREAT time. Now, I need to check where Hidden Valley is on the topo map. The southeast side of Muddy Peak??? (Nope, might be the I-15 side.)
Looks like a person could spend at least two days of exploring ... these Mojave landforms. As vast & desolate as they are.

Hasn't voted | The Hidden Valley is on the north side of the Muddy Mountains. The access to it is via the rough 4WD road marked on the Nevada Road & Recreation map as Bitter Springs Trail. This is a remote area, there is no visitor center, no rangers and no trails. You need to hike over a low ridge to get into this valley.
As for the Native Americans, the Paiutes are our local tribe, but I don't know exactly who made all the petroglyphs. | | Posted Oct 14, 2007 1:12 am |
