| Agave Bloom | [ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ] |
This was the only Agave in full bloom on route to Bridge Point in Red Rocks, Nevada.
May 2007.
This route follows Fern Canyon and then climbs out of it in north easterly direction to the prominent gully. Once on top of the gully, the summit is less than a half a mile away.
You can view my slideshow of the entire hike here: Bridge Point via Fern Canyon

Hasn't voted | Thank you. These blooms are peculiar indeed. Pretty strange to photograph a flower that is twice as tall as me ;) | | Posted May 26, 2007 9:47 pm |

Voted 10/10 | I like this photo a lot! and the slide show is pretty wonderful, too, Especially the photo of the big horn sheep. I think they were very curious about you, too. | | Posted May 27, 2007 12:39 am |

Hasn't voted | Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed the slideshow too. It was a joy seeing bighorns as usual. I think it has been a good spring for them and most of the lambs that were born have made it. I didn't see as many little bighorns in the previous years. | | Posted May 27, 2007 4:07 pm |

Hasn't voted | Thanks Dan. Often they are just straight and so tall in the sky that it's even hard to see the flowers up close. This one was all twisted around and very cool. | | Posted May 29, 2007 2:02 pm |

Hasn't voted | Thank you. This bee was very persistant and he didn't fly away even when I got closer to the flowers. | | Posted Jun 21, 2007 12:10 am |

Hasn't voted | Thank you. I remember this bloom well. It was so tall and gorgeous. I couldn't help myself but take pictures from every angle possible ;) Cheers. | | Posted Mar 27, 2008 3:08 pm |
