Poised to strike
Full-size picture of a Western Diamondback Rattlesnake (Crotalus atrox) ready to strike near the Robledo Range by Radium Springs, New Mexico. Ice Man Jerry VanI know that look

Have had it looking at me like that ready to strike. It is okay when you know it is there but when you come up on it on a climb looking it in the eye with nowhere to go but down hoping your partner is paying attention to you as you are yelling falling. I enjoy your photos and humor. See ya The Ice Man

Hey thanks a lot Ice Man! I agree, it's okay if you find them....not okay when they find you. Maybe I'll find another one tomorrow!

Thanks for your comments! I was at a safe distance....but didn't *really* feel safe. Rattlesnakes have a way of making folks feel that way.
